The Barbican Estate, designed by architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon, is one of the most ambitious (actually, the most ambitious) post-war housing schemes in the UK. Situated in the City of London, it comprises twenty blocks with over 140 variations of flat/house types — from studios, townhouses to triplex tower penthouses. Ahead of the estate's 50th anniversary in 2019, this new book features all the floorplans, newly commissioned photography of interiors and the exterior by Christoffer Rudquist, and essays by John Allan, Charles Holland, and Polly Powell (Geoffry Powell’s daughter).
