Pilgrimage Nº1 and Nº2 mark the beginning of a new extended format in the popular Perambulations series. Presented in a folded laporello format, the guides trace the north and south banks of the River Thames from Twickenham in the west to the Thames Barrier in the east.
The Thames shaped London through trade, industry and transport, and its changing character is reflected in the buildings that line its banks. The guides highlight notable twentieth-century housing and riverside developments along the Thames Path, while also weaving in broader histories of the river and the surrounding city.
Designed to be explored at your own pace—whether on foot, by bicycle or using public transport—the guides can be followed in stages or as longer continuous journeys. One side features an illustrated map of the river, while the reverse contains building descriptions.
